VBA Safety Alert – Ministers Guideline

Halifax Vogel Group (HVG), have welcomed the announcement yesterday from the Victorian Minister of Planning Hon. Richard Wynne MP.  Minister Wynne has confirmed tough, new regulations governing the use of aluminium composite panels (ACP) on high-rise buildings in Victoria.

For many years, HVG has been advocating for change to Local and Federal Regulation to stipulate that only fire-resistant cladding be used in façade construction in Australia.

Under the Victorian Guidelines and the recently adopted Amendment to the 2016 National Construction Code, Alucobond PLUS continues to be a safe and compliant product for use on Types A and B Construction.

HVG Facades Division General Manager, Mark Bradfield, stated “the Ministers Guideline was a positive step in improving the safety of high-rise buildings in Victoria, and everyone should have more confidence that high-rise buildings are safer from the risk of fire.”

“We will continue to work closely with the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) and key stakeholders on the implementation of this Guideline.  Industry needs to be reassured and confident that ACP is a safe, quality construction material.” Mr Bradfield concluded.
